Chateau Calon Segur 2002
Saint Estephe, Bordeaux, France
Deep ruby/purple-tinged, this vintage, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, is medium-bodied, elegantly-styled with surprisingly sweet tannin, some notes of herbs, plums, black cherries, and currants, a sweet, ripe attack, and a straightforward finish without the power and depth of the finest vintages. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2017.

Fabulous aromas of crushed berries, with cassis and blueberries and hints of spice. Full-bodied and very rich, with a wonderful tannin structure. Long and exotic.

Chateau Bahans Haut Brion
2nd Wine of Haut Brion
Graves, Bordeaux, France
This wine was so easy to drink at age two that it is hard to believe it is still holding together. The color is medium ruby with amber at the edge. The nose is textbook Graves - minerals, spice, tobacco, and red and black fruits. With low acidity and medium body, this supple, attractive wine should be drunk up as it is unlikely to improve . Tasted 5 times after bottling with consistent tasting notes.

Chateau Clerc Milon 2000
Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
This flamboyant, dense, opaque purple-colored wine, made from a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, is muscular, with an unctuous texture and high levels of tannin as well as extract. Compared to its other sibling in the Mouton-Rothschild stable, d'Armailhac, it is far more closed and tannic but still somewhat ostentatious, with smoky, leathery notes intermixed with oodles of black fruits and spice box. The wine may, however, have trouble eclipsing the brilliant 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020.

Chateau Cos D'Estournel 2002
Saint Estephe, Bordeaux, France
"One of the candidates for wine of the vintage, this beauty has a dense purple color to the rim and a classic, noble nose of graphite intermixed with black currant, spice box, licorice, and red and black fruits. Medium to full-bodied with exceptional precision and definition, this beautifully textured wine stands out as one of the most successful wines of this irregular vintage. A brilliant effort, it should be at its best between 2008 and 2020."

Chateau Giscours 1999
Margaux, Bordeaux, France
A deep/purple color is followed by sweet, jammy plum, earth, licorice, herb and blackberry aromas. While fat, fleshy and concentrated, this 1999 has retained some of its Margaux-like eleagance.

Chateau Gloria 2002
Saint Julien, Bordeaux, France
89 Rating
Abundant amounts of
licorice, smoke, herbs, cherries, and currants emerge from this deep
ruby/purple-tinged, full-bodied, up-front, flamboyant 2002. It
relies more on fruit and terroir than new oak to seduce the taster.
Surprisingly supple and fleshy for the vintage, it is undeniably a
sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next decade.
